Under the new medical exposure to ionising radiation regulations, the deadline for all persons or bodies who provide or engage others to carry out medical radiological procedures to declare themselves to HIQA passed on 8 April 2019.

We continue our work to promote safer, better practices in the area of medical exposures to ionising radiation in Ireland.
National Patient Experience Survey
The first National Patient Experience Survey Conference took place on 5 March 2019 and was attended by over 300 people from the public acute healthcare sector.
Meet our nursing home inspection team in May
Our nursing home inspection team is holding engagement sessions for nursing home providers, persons in charge, as well as residents and their friends and relatives, in Co. Cavan this May.
Disability services update
Our disability services inspection team continues to engage with providers of services to promote quality improvement, with roadshows around the country happening later this year. We are also continuing our engagement programme with residents and their representatives and advocates.

The National Care Experience Programme
Together with the HSE and the Department of Health, we have established a National Care Experience Programme to develop and implement surveys of Ireland’s health and social care services.
Foster care services
Our Children’s Team recently published an overview of 2017-2018 inspection and monitoring findings in statutory foster care services.
Improvements recommended to information management at the PCRS
Our Health Information Quality Team continues to review information management practices in HSE national data collections with a recent review of the Primary Care Reimbursement Service (PCRS).
