Commitment to sustainability

As a public sector body we understand that we have an important role to play in sustainability and decarbonisation in Ireland.

In line with the Government’s Climate Action Plan 2021, we have developed a Decarbonisation Roadmap.

This Roadmap sets out the work that we will undertake to help us to reach our strategic goals, as well as detailing the significant progress we have already made. It includes an action plan, outlining the specific measures and actions we will take to reach the goal of a 51% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030 and acquire net-zero energy related emissions by 2050.

To date, we are delighted to announce that we have achieved a 30% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions against the Government’s target of 51%. While in 2022, we achieved a saving of 38% in energy usage across our offices in Cork, Dublin and Galway.

Looking to the future, we will continue to work to reduce and improve the organisation’s energy use. Working with the Office of Public Works and the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, we are committed to championing positive change and ultimately, achieving our set sustainability objectives.
