Barbara Foley and Aoife Healy from our Health Information Quality Team recently attended the annual Health Informatics Society of Ireland (HISI) conference on 6 and 7 November.

Barbara Foley, pictured above, presented on a systematic approach to improving the quality of national health information in Ireland, focusing on the structured review programme for national data collections to assess compliance with the Information Management Standards for National Data Collections. In 2018, HIQA published two reviews and recommendations for the information management practices of BreastCheck and the Hospital In-Patient Enquiry Scheme.

Aoife Healy, pictured above, presented a poster on the Guidance on a data quality framework for health and social care, which aims to support health and social care organisations to systematically assess and report on the quality of their data. We are also currently preparing two digital learning modules to support organisations to understand the benefits of good-quality data and information, and to apply a data quality framework in practice, and assess and report on the quality of their data.
