On Thursday 27 October, Carol Grogan, Chief Inspector of Social Services, accompanied by Finbarr Colfer, Deputy Chief Inspector, and Ciara McShane, Interim National Operations Manager, appeared before the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Disability Matters. The appearance was to discuss learnings from the Overview Report on the Monitoring and Regulation of Designated Centres for People with Disabilities in 2021.
The committee members showed a keen interest on the findings from regulatory activity during 2021 and its impact on the lived experience of people with disabilities. The Chief Inspector also took the opportunity to highlight feedback from the residents’ forum report which was published in October 2022.
