Last week, we appeared before the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Disability Matters to discuss implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities.
The Chief Inspector of Social Services, Carol Grogan, and our Deputy Chief Inspector with responsibility for disability services, Finbarr Colfer, were in attendance to answer questions from committee members.
Carol Grogan delivered an opening statement which highlighted the limitations of the Health Act 2007 and the need for strong and effective adult safeguarding legislation to ensure that the most vulnerable people in Irish society are protected.
