A number of our staff attended this year’s European Social Services Conference in Antwerp, Belgium.
Run by the European Social Network, this year’s conference focused on how to co-create community-based social services, with a specific focus on three thematic strands: Co-Creating Cities Social Inclusion, Co-Creating Responses to Manage the Future Workforce, and Co-Creating Digital Solutions for Social Inclusion.
Our Health and Social Care Standards Programme Manager, Deirdre Connolly, presented to conference attendees remotely about the co-creation of resources to support the workforce.
Deirdre highlighted how the development of online courses such as our advocacy and human rights modules, have addressed the pressing issue of the limited amount of time that health and social care professionals have to access necessary and important training.

Michael Keating and Manuela Cristea from our social services regulation teams also attended the event to hear from other key social service organisations in Europe.
Running over three days, the European Social Network Conference is the largest forum for social welfare policy and practice in Europe.
Our learning courses, as well as a range of tools and guides to support staff to put key elements of national standards into practice, are free to access on the HIQA Learning Hub here.
